Gifts to the San Clemente Exchange Club Charitable Foundation, a 501(c)(3) (EIN 42-2695389), are deductible to the extent allowed by law. If you receive something in return, such as a dinner or event ticket, only the amount above its fair market value is deductible, and for gifts over $75 we'll tell you what that amount is. Talk to your tax advisor about your situation.
Will I get a receipt?
Yes. Zeffy emails a receipt as soon as you give online. For checks, we'll send a written acknowledgment, which the IRS requires for any single gift of $250 or more.
Does Zeffy take a cut?
No. Zeffy doesn't charge nonprofits any fees. It runs on optional tips from donors. You'll see a suggested tip at checkout, and you can change it to $0.
What's the difference between the Club and the Foundation?
The Exchange Club of San Clemente is a 501(c)(4) membership club. It runs meetings, awards and the Golf Classic, and payments to it aren't charitable deductions. The Foundation is a separate 501(c)(3) that accepts tax-deductible gifts and makes grants.
Can I direct my gift to a specific cause?
Yes. Mention your preference, such as military families or scholarships, in the comment field online or on your check memo, and we'll honor it wherever we can.
